Sixth E-Reflection – Micro teaching, Giving Feedback and Differentiated Instruction

           In the last meeting of PETA, my friends and I learned about new thing that is differentiated instruction. Before getting explanation about the instruction, we shared about our performance in the previous meeting. We did such a reflection about our micro teaching, what our lack is and what point that we should change and improve for the next micro teaching (final exam). Ms Ine also gave feedback for every groups about our performance. She gave a lot of input for our better performance in the future as a teacher candidate. However, we have to watch the last performance first before getting feedback or doing sharing together, because we  still have one group that have not performed for micro teaching in the last week.

            From this meeting, I really learned the precious thing about micro teaching. After getting feedback and doing reflection, I understood clear about my lack in my performance. My friends and Ms. Ine gave input for my group about assessment that we gave on micro teaching. We realized that we just gave exercise for our students without any assessment. Besides, Ms Ine also said that we have to improve the communicative linking in every part of micro teaching. We should consider that we are in one team. All those knowledge are really precious for my group and I. It is because we can learn from our mistakes and improve our ability to be better.

            I also understood clearly about the new knowledge that I got form the last meeting, differentiated instruction. Now, I already knew 5 instructions in teaching and learning. Differentiated instruction is the ability of teacher to deliver the same material or content with the different ways for his students. This instruction involves the multiple intelligences of his students and bloom’s taxonomy. Here, the teacher will deliver the material and divide the students based on multiple intelligences that students have. Besides, it also can differentiated in bloom’s taxonomy such as some students get the material for recall and other students get the material for remembering or evaluating. I think it is very good instruction because from this instruction the students able to master the material that they got based on their multiple intelligences, so they can improve the special ability or skill that they have. However, it will be better if this instruction combine with the other instruction such as lecturing instruction or guided discovery. It depends on the material and the situation in the classroom.

            For me, learn new thing or get new knowledge is always interesting. That is why I feel that it was really interesting when I got the knowledge about differentiated instruction that I have not gotten before. Actually, I already known about multiple intelligences and bloom’s taxonomy, but I can understand deeply from the last meeting. Besides, this meeting is also very meaningful for me as a teacher candidate. I felt it when I got feedback and did reflection of micro teaching. It could be my reflection to improve my skill in teaching to be better in the future.

            In my previous e-reflection, I said that I want to get feedback about my micro teaching from my friends and Ms. Ine so that I can improve my ability in teaching. Finally, I got that feedback in this meeting, it was really met my expectation for this meeting. I hope there will be new material or knowledge that I will get in the next meeting. So, it will be interesting meeting before getting holiday for next week. Thank you..
