PETA Reflection
the Sixth
Last meeting on
PETA course, I have learnt reflection and sharing session about what I had done
in microteaching. I got some inputs for improving my teaching especially for my
final test. I got something important in microteaching, like I have to consider
in exploring what students know about the topic. Also do not forget to
introduce the topic or agenda of that day. I have just known that introducing the
topic is not only delivered in the beginning, but also can be described I general
then in the conclusion part can go back. That is my understanding based on my
notes.
I have understood
clearly in the role of teacher part. I understand that we as a teacher
candidate not only teach students in order to be smart, but also as a monitor
of students in the right track. Do not guide the student loose in the wrong
path. Another part is about time allocation. When I did the microteaching, good
in managing time is the important thing. I knew it clearly, so that I am as a
teacher in that microteaching did not wasting time. The key of all of this is
monitoring; monitoring students and monitoring time do not until wasting time.
Unfortunately, I
have some parts that I missed because I did not focus in the lecturing. There are
some aspects that we have to pay attention to them. They are objectives,
activities, and assessment. There is no notes in my notes, and I am little bit
confused about it. I assume that these aspects are some points that I have to
deliver in my teaching. For more explanation about that, I have to share and
ask to my friends especially who has understood completely.
I think this
reflection and sharing session about the micro teaching was interesting. In the
post middle of the course, the lecturer gave a brief description about Multiple
Intelligences and Differentiated Instruction. Actually I already read it for my
TLL presentation, but the more explanation is much better than just read it by
myself. That was meaningful lesson for me as an educator or teacher candidate. Based
on the lecturer sharing about her friend, I influence my spirit to apply what I
have got that day, like using differentiated instruction in classroom. It is
good addition of teaching methods, because it mixes the application of Multiple
Intelligences and Bloom’s Taxonomy.
Overall, this
session meets my expectation to improve my teaching skill and enrich my knowledge
of course. I do hope the next session will be more interesting than this, I will
be more focus to the course, I will note-taking more, and I will catch all the
material up.

BalasHapusHi, Any. Good reflection :)
And then, I want to share my little understanding about three aspects that you noted. first, you should tell to students the objectives of the lesson before go to the contents, so students know what will they learn and should achieve in the end of the lesson.
Second, if you give some activities to students, you should tell to students what are the benefits or the objectives of that kind activities, and in every activities should there are the meaning and objectives, so the activity will meaningfully.
the third, assessment is can be activities, worksheet, exercise, etc. So, you should give assessment to students' activity or students' work and also don't forget to give feedback. It is just my little understanding, I hope that it will help you. Thank you :)
