Putri's Sixth Reflection PETA

In the sixth meeting of PETA course, the activity in the class was different. The difference happened because my friends and I did reflection and discussed it together with Ms. Ine about micro-teaching that we have done in the previous meeting. As I told before in the previous reflection, my group and I just did micro-teaching in that meeting because there were some reasons that made us postponed our performance. For me it was no problem, because on the positive side I could learn how to do micro-teaching from my friends and did preparation more.

  Based on my class reflection, I learned the important thing that I thought it could be surprising for the students. The important thing is explaining objective of the lesson or material to students before the real learning activity is done. For me, objective is the one of the thing that can be used as part of surprise for students in learning. It is because, I thought through game or brain storming that was given by teacher, students could guess by their self what kind of objective or purpose of the learning activity for them. However, my paradigm just an assumption because objective is the one of important thing that students have to know before the study to make their learning process clearer and aimed.

  The other thing that I learned from my class reflection was about self-confident in delivering material or instructions to the students. Self-confident cannot come by it, because self-confident is the thing that teacher have through experience by practicing based. Besides, in my opinion self-confident also can make the students respect and aware to the teacher. It is because, students can know whether the teacher is confident or not by the voice, gesture, etc. and it influences in grabbing attention of the students. Therefore, as a teacher candidate, micro-teaching activity and the reflection are very important to me as preparation and the way to practice how to be a teacher.

  After my friends and I did reflection together, we discussed about differentiated instructions and Bloom’s Taxonomy. As Ms. Ine told before that those topics were unfamiliar with us, so I could easy to understand those kind topics especially about differentiated instructions. Discussing about differentiated instructions, I have learned that topic in the TLL course. In my understanding, differentiated instructions are the topic that discusses about delivering same materials to the students by using different ways through paying attention to intelligences that students are had. In this case, to make the teachers get easy in delivering materials, they have to know each of student intelligences which is there are eight intelligences based on Gardner’s theory. Besides know the intelligences of each student, the teachers also have to know the way to encourage students in learning by using some ways teaching that refers to eight multiple intelligence.

  In addition about Bloom’s Taxonomy, actually before the sixth meeting I was still confused to understand it. However, after I heard Ms. Ine’s explanation and tried to make my own conclusion, I just realized that Bloom’s Taxonomy is the level to measure students’ understanding about the materials that is given by the teacher. I agree with the Ms. Ine’s explanation that Bloom’s Taxonomy is a challenge in learning and multiple intelligences is variety in learning. It is because, the teachers have to pay attention by one by of the students’ intelligences and use it as a reference in making lesson plan to achieve the objective of the teaching-learning activity.

  In my opinion, the sixth meeting of PETA course was very interesting for me because I got a lot of things of there. I got experience about how to do micro-teaching which is I have to pretend as a teacher and student in the same day. Meanwhile, I think my comprehension about differentiated instructions and Bloom’s Taxonomy are deeper that before. For me, reflected micro-teaching activity and also discussed about the other materials in the same day was out of my expectation. It is because, I thought the time allocation would be not enough to achieve all of that things. In fact, the time was enough and my expectation was wrong, but it made me happy because I was satisfied in learning those all kinds material.

  For the next meeting, I hope I can more enjoy the PETA class because the next meeting is the last time I learn PETA before the holiday. Actually, without information in the moodle about the materials for the next meeting make me so curious. However, I will keep to be positive thinking and consider that will be surprise in the next meeting.
