Reflection for Micro Teaching Session

In the previous meeting, I had a Micro Teaching session. In the Micro Teaching session there were many things that I learned, such as; how to conduct the lesson or how to teach as if in the real context, how to manage the class and how to manage the time. There are also three sessions that we should mastering, such as; how to do opening session, then how to create some activities and give explanation, the last session is how to close the class. I got some new things from my friends. I could learn how they taught in the class, although it was just in short time. At least, I learned their outline, their lesson plan, the variety materials, the variety activities and the strategic to interact with students. Besides that, I also learned how to be nice student.

In Micro Teaching session, I could learn the implementation of Models of Instruction. Mostly, our models that used are Group Interaction and Lecturer Discussion, but they also used other models. They combined some models in their teaching practice. They implemented Group Interaction models by preparing various activities that support students to discuss and work in group. There was also a lecturing session, actually just gave review. There was a doing tasks session, question and answer session. And then, the implementation of Lecturer Discussion was when my friends gave many questions to develop students’ schemata. I thought that they were good enough. The next is the part which I still confused is about how to make our instruction more clear, so students can understand what they should do. My experience in SEP, I had a problem in teaching practice. My difficulty was about giving instruction clearly and completely. Sometimes, my students got confusing what should they did, they could not directly understood the instructions. My solution of that problem is I will explore more about common vocabularies and try to practice, practice and practice.

In this session a felt enjoy, I thought that my preparation was good enough, so I had positive thinking that my group would be success. Although in the middle time, I felt very sad and disappointed to other group because their topic, activities and the movie were similar. I tried to be patient and calm in our turn. Never mind, it would be my experience to face the future to stay calm and confidence when there are some problems in teaching and learning process. That session was very meaningful to my future, because it will improve my teaching skill. It also prepares my future if I am being a teacher, what will I do and prepare to it. Practice will make us more proficient to make sure our skill.

I felt that this session was not like my expectation before class, because my Micro Teaching practice was not maximum. It cause of there was a similar concept with other group, so I felt disappointed. And then, my expectation for the next opportunities is prepare some planning’s and try to create a creative activities, not only apply the activities like we did every day.

For addition, I have a suggestion about this session. I thought that this session will more helpful for us if we get before School Experience Program. Thank you.
