Sixth Reflection on PETA subject
In the sixth meeting of PETA
subject, I experienced a good and meaningful learning. Last meeting, all the
groups were assessed one by one by my lecturer and also my peers. This activity
gave me many new knowledge on how should I teach in order to create an
effective learning. Besides that, I also learned about differentiated
instruction and Bloom’s Taxonomy in this meeting.
There
were many important things that I understood clearly in the last session. First,
about assessment activities in the class. In the previous meeting, I was still
confused about what kind of class activities that included assessment, but
after my lecturer explained it to the class, I understood clearly about
assessment activity and it’s importance on the teaching and learning process.
Second, I could understand
about how is the ideal way to open, deliver, and close the lesson deeper in last
session. I got many knowledge from my lecturer’s feedback on every single group
that performed in the last meeting. From the gestures such as face expression
and movement, the clearance of pronunciation and instruction which do not make
the students confuse, the content in the slide which have to be concise and
clear, and of course the grammar in every part of spoken and written language.
Third, I also learned about
the differentiated instruction and Bloom’s taxonomy. For these two materials I
could understand it clearly, because both of it had been discussed in another
lesson. However, the different lesson that I got from this session was the
strategy of how teacher could facilitate the students’ need in order to create
an effective learning. For example, teacher could create one session that cover
almost all of the intelligence, or teacher could create various activities in
separate meeting to cover all the intelligence through one semester.
Fortunately, last meeting I
got clear understanding about what my lecturer delivered to me. So I thought
that I could understand the material from this whole session. Because of that,
this session was the most interesting session that I have ever attend. I could
attain clear and detailed explanation from every part that increase my
understanding about effective teaching in the classroom, especially the
classrooom which have many types of learner. Besides that, all of the materials
and feedback in the session was very meaningful for me, because it gave me the solutions
for the things that I missed, and knowledge about how I should do and apply the
materials in a heterogeneous classroom.
In
conclusion, this session really met my expectation, because my motivation was
increased when I learned, especially in the group evaluation session. For the
next session, I expect the meeting will have the same atmosphere like the last
session or even better, because in the last session the learning process was
very effective for me.
