As usual, I learned a lot of things
from PETA class and in the last session I learned about the important things in
microteaching that I have to consider, multiple intelligences, Bloom’s taxonomy
and the left part of models of instruction, Differentiated Instruction and they
are very important for me as a 21st century teacher candidate.
I could not pull myself together in
the last session, because I was so sleepy, so I have to say that I am so sorry
that I did not really pay attention to Putri’s group when they were presenting
the microteaching. The other way around, it was an interesting session because
we, the whole of section H students did an evaluation of our microteaching
together. We gave comments and suggestion each other, so we have known the lack
in our microteaching that we need to improve.
In the evaluation, I found that mostly,
the things that lack from the groups’ microteaching presentation were the
assessment. There was not any assessment in our, especially my group’s
microteaching. Now I have understood it clearly that in every activity that we
conduct in the class must have an objective to be achieved and tell about it to
our students and we have to monitor students’ improvement in learning through
assessment in that activity. We cannot just put any activities without any
purpose. There was also the lack of conducting microteaching in our own class,
with our friends as the audience that we cannot be serious when we did the
microteaching rehearsal. Even I know we have tried our best, but still, it was
just like we conduct a usual presentation.
I was also learned about multiple
intelligences, Bloom’s taxonomy and differentiated instruction. I have clearly
understood that the nine multiple intelligences proposed by Howard Gardner are
used to understand that students have different characters and they are
learning in different ways. I think teachers have to aware about this to
integrate it into their lesson, so the students with different intelligences
are accommodated to show what they are good at. Bloom’s taxonomy is the steps
in learning that students have to achieve, guided by the teacher. The steps are
remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating and creating, so
when students are already can create something new from the topic that being
learned, it means that they are already master the topic. Once again, I think
that the teacher’s job is not that easy.
Unfortunately, because of the
sleepiness that I could not bear, I have not understood clearly about
differentiated instruction. All I know was differentiated instruction is a
model of instruction for students with special needs. The special needs
students mean not only students with the physical or mental disabilities, but
also students who have different interest and talents. I will explore about it
more with my friends who take the DI course in the next semester later.
In short, I met my expectation in
the last meeting. I have learned the missing part in my group’s microteaching
presentation, multiple intelligences, Bloom’s taxonomy and differentiated
instruction. But I think I need more examples of integrating Bloom’s taxonomy
in the classroom. I hope in the next session I will learn about elaborating a lesson
plan, because I still cannot do it well, and I guess that session is missed
from the course’s schedule. If it is not about elaborating a lesson plan, I
hope I will learn another things which are important for me as a 21st
century teacher candidate.
