7th Reflection of Ambar Nurul Ansari

           On the last session of PETA, I learned a lot of new things. The topic was about assessment. This topic was quite interesting although I had already learnt it on general lecturing. Assessment is a way to measure students’ understanding. It is quite same with assessment’s definition in LTM class. Based on the session, I could know the similarities and differences towards assessment in PETA and LTM courses. The main difference is about the position between assessment and evaluation. In LTM class, evaluation is broader than assessment because it is not only to assess the grade of the student, but also the other aspect would be possibly happens in the classroom. But then, it is really different with PETA course.  In PETA standpoint, assessment is broader than evaluation because evaluation is only to assess the student and assessment is to assess the whole classroom activities. 

       Actually, I could understand clearly of this session. I could get the main points of my friends’ presentation and explanation. Everything delivered in simple words. That was why it made me easier to understand the material of this session. But then, I am still confused with the conventional and project based assessment. Maybe, it was because quite hard to catch up my friends’ words or the mistake was on me. After the session, I asked some of my classmates about conventional and project based assessment. They explained it briefly and gave me the link of an article about these things. Then, I could understand what conventional and project based assessment are.

          It is like what I have stated above, this session was quite interesting. It is because I could learn and apply the theories for my teaching and learning process after all. As a teacher candidate, I have to know how to assess my students’ understanding or other aspects. It can be about their cognitive, psychomotor and affective. That was why I stated that this session was really meaningful for me, especially I am a teacher candidate after all. Then, one thing that made this session was quite interesting for me was because the group discussion and presentation are interesting and enjoyable.

       I have to realize that this session really meets my expectation in understanding the things about assessments. I could know what assessment was, how to assess, the part of assessment, so on. I thought that I got what I need and want completely. For the next session, I expect that I can learn a lot of new things. Then, I can also enjoy the class. It means that I can enjoy the activities, the topic, the process, so on. I realize one important thing that I am lucky to be SSE student. It is because I can learn a lot of new things from a great lecturer.
