The Fifth e-Reflection of Syaiman

         The fifth meeting of PETA class was not provided lecturing, because at that time was conducted micro teaching session. Actually that session was the first meeting after doing midterm test. Before my friends and I did midterm test, my lecturer had divided the class into some groups of micro teaching. So after midterm my friends and I directly conducted micro teaching. My group and I got the sixth turn of doing micro teaching. The new knowledge which I got in that session was about preparing anything before conducting micro teaching. Other word preparing is the important thing for me as teacher candidate in conducting teaching practice, mastering the material is also the one of important thing for preparing micro teaching.

The part which I understood clearly was about respect other. Exactly it is the important for me, because respect is one of the basic aspects in improving good attitude. In that time I was very annoying person, because I did not really pay attention for my friends who was conducting micro teaching in front of the class. I could feel the annoyed feeling from my friends who did not pay attention when my group and I conducted micro teaching. It was hurt, but it was also learning for me to respect others. Before respect other I must respect to myself, because it was the most important thing.

I was little bit confused how to build the interest when I conducted micro teaching. Exactly it was the part which I did not really understand to achieve it. I think it was the bad of me, because I did not prepare well before conducting micro teaching. It was also a problem for me as teacher candidate. My solving for this problem perhaps I need much of references about how to build interest in the class. The other solving is I need to ask to my lecturer and share to her about my problem.

Micro teaching session at that time was interesting enough. The interesting part is the session when my friends conducted micro teaching with their own styles. My friends could make the class to be interesting class by expressing their own styles. Almost my friends could stimulate the interest of the participants in the class. Meanwhile I also could learn from my friends in conducting micro teaching and how to build the interest situation in the class. Perhaps I need much of trying to be an effective teacher.

I think that session was really meaningful for me as teacher candidate, because I could learn by practicing. Micro teaching is the important thing for me to build my skill in teaching and also I can improve the effectiveness of my teaching. The effectiveness of teaching is the difficulty of conducting teaching practice. Perhaps I can rehearse my teaching skill by conducting micro teaching. The other thing which can help me in improving my skill is reading about the effective teacher material of PETA and I can also look for other reference. I think I can also learn how to be an effective teacher by joining in the seminar or workshop about effective teacher, it will help me a lot to build my schemata about effective teacher.

I did not achieve my expectation for the micro teaching session, because I found the difficulties when I conducted micro teaching. Before I came into the class, I expected that I could conduct micro teaching confidently without any nervous. The fact I got nervousness and I did the silly thing which made my micro teaching was really terrible. It also made me forgot the material which I would explain in the class. I think practicing in front of my friends is a bit difficult than I conduct teaching in SEP. I do not know what the problem, but I expect I can throw away that bad thing. My expectation for the next meeting is I expect that I can learn more about the material and understand it. I also expect that I can be interactive student.
