On the last session of PETA course, I have learnt a lot of thing, although the topic of the meeting was not new at all because we have discussed this topic in the General Lecturer session some weeks ago. In this meeting, we discuss about assessment. Bu Ine asked us to group our self and gave us instruction to do the group discussion and presented our discussion result. Each group get different topic to present, but the entire topics were relating each other. From the discussion and presentation, I got a lot of thing and understanding about assessment. I understood that there are some kinds of assessment, how the effect of assessment for students, how feedback influence students’ motivation and how to apply assessment based on the students’ situation. Actually all the discussion topic was not new for me, because I have learnt it before.
From today meeting I really understand about the Domain of assessment. The domain of assessment is types or areas that teacher should assess on student. There are three domain of assessment, there are; Cognitive, Affective and Psycomotoric (creativity). These three areas are the area that teacher can use as the base of assessment. On cognitive area, teacher can assess students’ knowledge base on the written test (paper and pencil test). From the affective aspect, teacher can assess students’ performance, how they contributing in group discussion in class or how their performance in daily activities at school, how the way the use their uniform or tidiness. And for the Psycomotoric aspect, the teacher can assess students’ base on their creativity by giving a project.
From today’s session I understand all the material clearly, but I will find out more about this topic by browsing in the internet, read some books or asking my friend, senior or lecturer who now more about this topic than me. Today session was very interesting, because we discuss more about assessment and how it will influence our students’. I makes me understand more about assessment and make me think more how should I do to do a better assessment for my students, so that the assessment that I give doesn't decrease their motivation or humiliate their self-esteem. I really appreciated today’s meeting because it was very meaningful for me as teacher candidate. It will help me more in the future it will help me to do the good assessment for my student.
Actually today’s session was not meet my expectation, because I expect the multiple intelligence or the different instruction as the today’s topic to continue the last meeting topic, because the discussion in the last meeting is not fully covered, but whenever it was not meet my expectation, I really enjoy today’s session. For the next session I expect about new topic which related to this topic too, may be about how to achieve student best on their development in class or the entire learning activities. Over all I expect something that will help me to develop more as the teacher candidate.
