Fifth E-Reflection – Microteaching

            In the fifth meeting of PETA after doing mid-term, my friends and I did a microteaching as agree with the previous meeting. My class divided into some group which is every group consists of 4 until 5 person and have 15 up to 20 minutes to do microteaching. My group is the first group that did microteaching. Actually, microteaching is not a new thing for me. I often do microteaching or role play in other courses and also in the School Experience Program (SEP). However, in this course I did differently because I did in the group of 4 and it was like being a real teacher who gives the lesson or material with teaching aids in much time. So, there is a new thing that I have learned from microteaching.

            After attending in this meeting, I really understood something in doing microteaching. I realize that preparation is the thing that should be the important thing for teaching. there are something that we should prepare before doing microteaching or the real teaching. the examples are teaching aids and the material for the students. I also understood that as a teacher we need to have rubric or check list that we should reach our expectation in teaching, so we know whether our teaching is good or not. The rubric should be consist of all aspect of teaching, such as all the activity of the teacher while giving the material to the students, the technology that the teacher uses in teaching and also the way the teacher delivers the material. Besides, I have something that I did not get or did not understand after the class. It is about how to deliver the material well and clearly. Sometime nervous is being a dangerous thing in microteaching. Perhaps, it is because there is a lecturer who takes the mark so I felt nervous and afraid to do microteaching. However, I try to control it by focusing to deliver the material or present my part in microteaching. I just think that I am a teacher, there is no lecturer and there is no my friends there. So, I can control myself and solve my problem in doing microteaching.

I think this meeting is the most interesting and meaningful for me as a teacher candidate. By doing microteaching, I can sharp my ability to practice in deliver the material although I did in a group. Moreover, I did it in front of my lecturer and my friends who ready to give the feedback for me. It was very nice activity! When they have their feedback, it will be really meaningful for me because I will know my weakness and my strength and also know whether my teaching is already good or have not. I also learn many interesting thing when looking of my friends’ microteaching. I can get the new strategy in teaching and it can be my references to do teaching in the other occasion. It was really meaningful lesson.

I thought that this microteaching will be the simple microteaching. That is why my friends and I did not prepare this activity well. I was so surprise when I see that some of my friends prepared all the material and really good preparation and for my group just did skipping in some part in microteaching. It really out of my expectation, I do not suppose that this microteaching will be really serious and great microteaching. However, it made me realize that I must do preparation before every single thing that will I do. I hope in the next meeting there will be feedback from my lecturer and my friends about this activity. I also hope that there will be a great thing in the next meeting. I'm waiting for the surprise from my lecturer. Thank you..
