7th E-reflection
Assessment

Assessment or test is word
that always makes me feels afraid and sometimes happy. I feel afraid because the
fear of failure is always imagined in my mind. In other side I also feel happy
because with assessment I will know how far I understand the material that I
already learned.
In the last meeting of PETA, I learned about
assessment and the effective of assessment. Actually this material already gave
in the previous meeting before midterm test, but in this meeting the
explanation about assessment was explained deeply. The other thing that makes
this meeting different with the previous meeting is the new things about model,
category and effect of assessment that I never got before.
From this meeting I
understood the differences between evaluation and assessment. If we look from the assessment point of view,
evaluation is narrower than assessment. Evaluation is just for collect the
result and makes judgment, while assessment is wider than evaluation. Besides
the differences of evaluation and assessment, in this meeting I also got
clearly explanation about the effect of assessment in class. The effect cannot be
separated from the role of feedback that teacher give to students.
Beside the clearly
explanation that I got about element and effect of assessment, In this meeting
I also got difficulty to understand about aspect in giving feedback in
particular about ego evolvement and task involvement. I have to read more than
one time to get the brief content of ego evolvement. So, after this meeting I must
re-read the material that I already got and I have to make discussion with my
friends, because sometimes I got difficulties to understand alone.
Because almost all the
material I can grab in this meeting, I feel satisfy enough. Besides that, the
activity that my lecturer provided in the beginning of the class made me felt
interested and it also made me enthusiastic to give attention in the following
activity. The positive reinforcements from my lecturer made me enjoy and what
my lecturer does during the class were good examples in teaching. So, not only
the material that my lecturer gave was meaningful, but what the lecturer did
during the class also meaningful for me because I can see the real example in
front of my eyes.
Honestly, day by day when I join
with this class, my passion in teaching certainly increases. I hope I can keep the spirit to be good educator
until the end of my life. For the next session I hope I can meet another
interesting activity and good comfortable atmosphere. I also hope my lecturer
can give us interesting short movie to make our class fell more enjoyable.
I agree with you Febri about this one "assessment is wider than evaluation" because Ms. Ine has already explained about this one while in LTM class we got that assessment is narrower than evaluation but in this step the assessment is wider than evaluation when the assessment is using in teaching and learning process. I read in your reflection that you have a difficulty in learning the materials by yourself, maybe you can share with me or other friends and we can learn together until we understand the material. I am glad to hear that you are really interesting to learn many interesting activity because I want to learn it too from this class, Semangat :D
