Important aspects in teaching, Blooms’ taxonomy and
Differentiated instruction

From the last meeting of
PETA, I have learnt about aspects in teaching, blooms’ taxonomy and
differentiated instruction. Actually for the first hour in this meeting we
still continue the last activity which is micro teaching. After that, we did
evaluation about micro teaching that we already done. In the evaluation session
I realize that there are three important aspects in teaching that I never
concerned before. There are objectives, activities, and assessment.
This meeting give me many
things that I think it is important. I know that in teaching, we have to convey
the objective either in the first or in the end of the class. The conveying
objective can be delivered in explicit or implicit explanation. All this time,
I think nothing of the importance of conveying objective. I also think that
kind of assessment in teaching and learning is just definite in written
assessment only. Start from this meeting, all of my perception about giving
assessment becomes different because in fact there are many variety of
assessment. Not only in written form, but also in observation. However, in
assessing through observation, teacher has to make documentation that is
written in lesson plan. Besides that, teacher has responsible to make rubric to
guide the assessment. I try to remember deeply about the importance of rubric,
because that is one of the weaknesses from my group when we did micro teaching.
Besides the importance of
conveying objective, giving assessment and making rubric as a guide, the other
important aspect that have to be concerned in teaching is the use of grammar.
It becomes very important if we consider that teacher is takes a part as role
model. So that, as maximal as possible teacher have to use correct grammar in
giving explanation and example.
Actually the evaluation
session after we did micro teaching is very interesting for me, because I learn
so many things that useful for my teaching practice in future. However in this
meeting I also met a part that I am not really understood, there is
differentiated instruction. Even though I know the definition and the relation
to blooms’ taxonomy, but I still confused what the differentiated instruction
is actually. In my understanding, blooms taxonomy is the way to measure
students understanding, and differentiated instruction is the way teacher
deliver material with aim’s to make student understand.
Over all I feel satisfy enough
for this meeting, because I can realize what the weaknesses of my group micro
teaching. I also get new knowledge that is useful for my teaching life later
time. However, I feel little bit unsatisfied with my lecturer explanation about
differentiated instruction. I hope for the next meeting I can get more clearly
explanation about differentiated instruction. I also hope that I will get
another interesting activity that can increase my knowledge and improve my
ability.
Nice writing Febri,
BalasHapusActually I want to ask about your statement "However, in assessing through observation, teacher has to make documentation that is written in lesson plan" What did you mean by documentation? What is the function?
Hmm, I think you have to mention your reflection as a teacher candidate what will you do after getting knowledge about micro teaching, MI, and differentiated instruction.
I like your statement "tart from this meeting, all of my perception about giving assessment becomes different because in fact there are many variety of assessment". It really makes me different to see an assessment, because I have just known also about the variety of assessments and strength of each types.
Keep writing and thank you
