Reflection of Guest Lecturer
In the last meeting before I faced Mid Semester. I joint in general course of PETA. The guest lecturer is Ibu Warih, she tough us about effective assessment. There, I learnt about how to make effective assessment to our students. As I know before, assessment is just paper and pencil, listening, or oral test. But here, bu Warih explained more if we can assess our students by observing, talking, or sometimes we can hear what they talk. We can take some value from there; besides using PPT (paper and pencil test) we also can use that kind of way to assess our students.
We learnt from some of resources. Like from ibu Warih experience, PPT that have been made by ibu Warih, and also there were some PDF about effective assessment that help us in learning. In the middle of the session, we learnt about Summative and Formative Assessment. Both of them are method to assess our students, but there are some differences between Summative and Formative. In summative, we assess students simultaneously or we can do it by giving exercise or measure from their semester result. In this method we can assess them regularly in every semester or every last meeting. Then formative, here we assess our students by observing in their daily in the class. We can do it during the lesson without asking or giving them test. We can know their ability through their response. Sometimes we also can measure their attitude and aptitude during the class.
From the whole of the session I got many things about effective assessment. Unfortunately, I am  still confused with how the way to make tools for assessing students, because I never known before. But I am going to learn deeply about that, I think I can ask to others who had have experiences about it.
In that day was not the beautiful day for me. But when I join in that session, it was not bad. I was not sleepy like usual. I can acquire my mind to understand about the material that day. It was interesting enough for me, because I can learn how the way to assess students without making them confused. And without many questions that can make them down. I had an expectation here that I want to make my class life although I am assessing my students while the class is running. It is going to be meaningful class in every single of time if can do it well.

  2. Wow,, what a good reflection brow. I like your way to explain summative and formative assessment in your reflection. That is so helpful for me to understand them.

Oh ya,, Based on my understanding, I found some confusing sentence, such as:

1.The guest lecturer is Ibu Warih, she tough us about effective assessment. = What do you mean by tough in that sentence? May be it will be match if you change it with taught because taught is V2 of teach not tough. Tough is a different word.
    2. I can acquire my mind to understand about the material that day. = I confuse with this sentence brow. I could not get the purpose(maksud)of that sentence. Acquire my mind? In bahasa: memperoleh akal saya, isn't it?
    hehehehe

    Thank you, that is all.
My comment is based on my understanding. If I am wrong, just feel free to remind or critic me.:)
