Reflection on Model of Instruction
In this session we have learnt a lot about the type of
teacher’s instruction. They are Guided Discovery, Group Interaction, Direct
Instruction, and Lecture Discussion. Actually, I have already known about the
main principal of those instructions. Maybe, the name of instructions is
something new for me.
I do understand about the Group Interaction as well as
Lecture Discussion. Both of them are usually used in my learning in class so
that I am familiar with it. The principal of Group Interaction is in the social
interaction among the group. There are students’ interaction, sharing, and
completing each other in learning. This model is good for enhancing the
competence of interpersonal. While Lecture Discussion is something I got for
years in my elementary, junior, and even senior high school. Teacher monologue
is the main power of this model. Sometimes, it seems boring but for me this
model is effective in internalizing the full body of knowledge.
The part that I rather don’t understand is the
implementation of those instructions. Should we separate the four instructions
in one teaching or we can collaborate all in one time? Maybe I should ask this
to my lecturer or friends so that I know the answer.
This material is really interesting for me. I can elaborate
the knowledge of multiple intelligences, learning style, and learning strategy
also. The whole construction of my knowledge in my brain about learning and
teaching now is really complex. The one thing I need is to practice it in real
life in class.
As an educator, we should know well the concept and theory
of our teaching and students’ learning. It is as our foundation so that we can
have our guidance and exact treatment for our students. My expectation in
knowing the theory of teaching has already fulfilled. For the next session I hope
there is a related material and it will complete my whole understanding about
teaching and learning itself.
