Assessment
Last
week I joined PETA class that was different from ordinary class because it was
conducted by a guest lecturer. The topic was about assessment. I learned many
things from this session. I learned that assessment is one of the important
things to do in teaching and learning process in the classroom. From the whole session
I learned about what is assessment, kind of assessments such as formative and
summative, the differences between both assessments, the tools that used in
assessing and how to conduct an effective assessment.
The part
that I really understood clearly was about the differences between formative
and summative assessment. Now I know that the assessment that is done during
the session or in the end of a session called as formative such as posttest and
quizzes, and the assessment that is conducted at the end of semester is called
as summative assessment. But, I also got some missing points in this session. Since
the time was very limited, I still have not understood yet about kind of
assessment based on international curriculum such as Cambridge and ICAS that
was explained by the lecturer. In that time, the lecturer was so fast explained
the material so I did not grab many things about that point. To more understand
about the topic I ask some of my friends and read more the topic from the files
given by the lecturer or searching from some websites.
The
session was interesting for me because my friends and I did so many activities
such as discussion, Q & A session, and gallery walk. Besides, the other
thing that makes the session interesting was we joined with 2012 intake
students and were divided into groups and each of member has our own
responsibilities; the leader, logistic, recorder, and reporter. In my view, the
session was not only interesting but also meaningful because it is important
for me in preparing myself to be an educator or a teacher in the future. I have
known kind of assessment, how to assess students, the tools that used, and I
how to do the evaluation through assessment.
The
session was interesting, enjoyable, and meaningful so I can conclude that the
session met my expectation, even more. Before the class began, I thought that
the class would be very noisy because we were joined with 2012 intake students
and I would be bored because the activity will be only lecturing. After the
session, all my assumption or my thoughts were not proven. The situation was
very different so I really grateful because of that. What I expect for next
session is I do really hope the next class can be like that class where we have
many activities. And if it is possible, I also hope PETA class can have one
more session with guess lecturer. Over all, what I would like to say about the
session is great. It was a very good learning atmosphere though we were in a
big number. Thumbs up for the guest lecturer and big thanks for my PETA’s real
lecturer, Ms.Ine, for allowed us had session such this session.

I agree with you Raphita actually I posted this comment too Yuko's reflection but I want to post it to you too Raphita because I think you can give me ann opinio. I perceive it will be better if just learn with miss Ine not with guest lecturer becauses I think guest lecturer should give the special things that cannot be given by our lecturer. I do not know but I am just wondering why there should be a guest lecturer if our lecturer could make it. :)

Thankyou, Nura for the comment :)
HapusIn my personal view, I think we need this session as part of Ms.Ine lesson plan. Besides, we can get more knowledge from different personal with different experience, of course. Both of the lecturers are great for me, and we can learn a lot from them :)

After I read your reflection, I agree with you about the previous class. In my opinion it was interesting because there were various activities that made me passionate to learn.
BalasHapusMaybe just a little comment from me is it "guess" or "guest" lecturer ??
Keep your spirit up raph !
Thanks, Derry. Yeah that's true. Actually, we always have a fun and meaningful learning process in the classroom but since we have different lecturer it gives me more spirit to learn.
HapusI think it must be guest since guess means "give an opinion or statement", it's a verb. If we translate it into Bahasa Indonesia, "guess" means "menebak" :) hmm.. I think let's check our dictionary :)
Thanks anyway for the comment (I prefer to call it as question, actually) :D
