In the meeting of PETA Course last week, I learned about Models of Instruction. In this session I got new knowledge such as the types of Models of Instruction and How the implication in class. The Models of Instruction types are Direct Instruction, Guided Discovery, Group Instructions, Lecture Discussion and the last is Teacher Centered. These models have their own characteristic in class application. From this session I got something new for me, I know that every model of instruction has their own criteria in application, so I want to use one of those model I should look at the class situation that I will teach.
From learning process in this session, I really understand about the direct instruction model and Group Instructions Model. I really understand the Direct Instructions because in Jigsaw group I was got on direct instruction group. I can learn more about this model in the group because we shared our own perspective in the group discussion. And for the Group Instructions Model, I understand it well because in my main group my friends who got this topic explain about it well.
The part that I did not really understand from this session is Lecture Discussion. I just got a little understanding from this model that is in Lecture Discussion there is Information processing and comprehensive memory. It is all I got from this model, but I will learn more about this model by reading the material and learn from my friend who understands about it.
Over all the session was interesting because I can learn more how to teach effectively by choosing an appropriate teaching Instruction. I got a good session because the learning material in this session is really relate to the real teaching.Actually this session was very helpful for me as a teacher candidate because, this session explain about model instruction which will be useful for me in future as a teacher. From what I learn today, I will be able to relate my class situation with what teaching method or model instruction will I use in my class.
The session was just like what I expected before. This session is the first session after the School Experience Program; I come to the class with a lot of question that I got from the SEP after my teaching practice. And after the session end, what I ever asked to my self has been answered in the class. And for the next PETA session I hope PETA course will give me more knowledge about the way how to be an effective teacher and give me material that will be useful for me as a teacher candidate.
