The Third Reflection - Ambar Nurul Ansari

I am always curious with PETA course. What I will learn in PETA always be meaningful to my teaching practice. On the last session, I learned about Models of Instructions. Actually, I have learnt about the topic in the other subject. But then, the concern of the lesson is different although the main purpose is same. I mean that the purpose is really same because as a teacher’s candidate, I have to know the models of instruction, the strength and the weaknesses, so I can know which one is the most appropriate to my teaching practice someday.

Based on what I learned yesterday, I really understood that every model is good. I remember what one of the lecturer said to me that “we do not judge what the most appropriate model to apply is, but we have to deal with them”. I understood clearly each of the models. I understood the intentions of them also the strength and the weaknesses. For example is the Lecture-Discussion Model. It seems same with the Direct Model. However, the Lecture-Discussion Model emphasizes on the information processing and the Direct Model does not do it although both of them use the teacher-centered learning approach.

Unfortunately, I just did not understand clearly for the Guided Model. I did not exactly get the main point about this part. I just knew that based on this model, the teacher has to give examples from the real situation. But then, I did not get the rest of this model’s intention. I did not know exactly the strength and weaknesses about this model. Maybe, I will read more the articles about this model and ask some friends who really understood about this model or do a discussion with some friends.

Actually, the topic was quite interesting. I have to discuss in a group about the topic and after that do the sharing session. Then, Ms. Inez also delivered the emphasizing on for each of models. Like I stated on the beginning, this topic was really meaningful for me as a teacher’s candidate. I will be a real teacher someday. This topic can help me to conduct a good teaching-learning process.

Then, I did not expect anything which was too high from this session. I just wanted to get the meaningful lesson inside this topic. I realized that I got what I wanted. But then, for the next session, I expect that I will get something new which is also meaningful for me and my students someday.

  1. Dear Ambar,
You reflection has been already good. You have been able to reflect on what you have been learned. However, to improve it if I may suggest you please elaborate more about what you have learned.
For the mechanic and grammar, please pay attention to some details such as tenses and verb format.
Keep up good work ya mbar ;D
