Yesterday I have learnt about some instructions in PETA’s class, I got a lot of brilliant ideas from my friend’s perspectives which are inspiring me to build new perspectives. I felt that this class caught my attention. Since the topic is instruction models, which I have read some of the material before. So I am curious about what I can ascertain after reading and studying directly with Ms. Ine and I indeed this is the way like what I want. I studied four kinds of instruction, such as lecturing, guided discovery, group and direct instructions. I think I have understood all of those instructions because it was well as share my opinion with my group. After learnt the instructions I got a lot of things that were previously not thought before. Since I noticed that the instructions I have ever experienced when I was in school so I have experiences as my prior knowledge towards those instructions. Besides those experiences, I have gained strengthened with some ideas from my friends and some theory of experts. It made me believe in myself to make it as a self-reflection that related to the real situation. This is what i have learnt and i try to reflect it into my experience in learning and teaching 1. Lecturing instruction, 2. Guided Discovery instruction, 3. Group instruction and the last 4. Direct instructions.
1. Lecturing
In this instruction teachers explain to students about the materials, and the students just follow the teacher’s explanation. It just the same when I was in school my teachers often use this method to explain how to solve a math problem, explains how work in laboratory for vocational subjects. With this method I was able to solve the problem or question. But I am not able to define a lesson topic. Even my teacher has explained and it was being discussed, but when I was asked to define the material I do not know what to think. If the article that I have read connected with the lecturing instruction, I think there are some lacks of lecturing instruction. In lecturing instructions students cannot to share ideas, not explore prior knowledge, and could not understand by themselves, students are depending on the teacher. But the good point is lecturing instruction let teacher to monitor the students understanding, or student’s progress. A simple example is when the teacher explains the material and then he asked "do you understand?" Then the student answered "yes" but it just is not makes faculty believes that the student understands that he will appoint several students at random to answer the question. Thus teachers monitor students' understanding well.
2. Guided discovery. Teacher just guides the students into the right way. Teachers let the students to explore their prior knowledge and their thought. Students were providing social interaction, open ended questions. So it is all about student cognitive.  This instruction explore students cognitive, students explore prior knowledge to understand lessons. When I did a SEP, I teach a class IX the students have learnt about functional text. So I asked them to give some examples of functional text. In such conditions I have a role to guide them to find the right answers and ensure the student's mind with my learning objectives. According to my opinion is suitable to be applied in the classroom for students and teachers in cooperative learning.
3. Group instruction, in my understanding this instruction was completely depended by student’s prior knowledge, student’s social interaction and student’s ability to manage their cognitive. In this instruction was focus on student centered learning.  This instruction is often used by lecturers in SSE. As done by Ms. Ine. shee grouped us and then asked us to jigsaw reading. Then discuss the results of reading. In addition, the discussion went well because each of the members has a responsibility to contribute, and have good communication skills or socio interaction..
4. Direct instructions teacher explanation and modeling was uses and combined with students practice to create a learning process. Students were active in responding teachers questions analyzing example and practicing skills. Direct instructions were almost the same as the lecturing instructions. The difference is in lecturing instructions the teachers could monitor student understanding, but there was not monitoring in direct instructions. The good point in direct instructions students can apply the materials that just gave and got a feedback from teacher. For example students have a new concept from teachers scaffolding and feedback.
Because I have learned 4 types of instruction for taught class then I will try on next semester and apply it on SEP. Although basically every time I teach, especially in SEP this semester I have used the instruction. But my next semester as a teacher candidate I will do better. I had to do it because I want my students to be better after I taught him. Anyway I already know the advantages and disadvantages of each model of these instructions. That is all what I thought, for the next meeting I wish I could have progressed new thing that I've never experienced before
