ABI ^_^ kekeke

Yesterday I have learned about assessment with guest lecture. She said that there were two kinds of assessment formative and summative. Assessment formative means that the assessment was given during the lesson or any tasks paper, it is different with summative assessment which given in the end for example Midterm, UAS etc.
If I do reflections towards assessment one thing that appears in my mind is the effectiveness of assessment itself.  Based on my opinion assessment is an activity to know about students’ understanding, students’ level, and students’ ability in learning and it is useful in grading and evaluation. Teacher can use assessment to know the students achievements and to evaluate the effectiveness teaching in classroom.
There were some cases in the classroom that the teacher might miss in assessing the students. Classroom was consists of students who has different level, different personality and also different intelligences. In my opinion this is not effective assessment.

The first case, sometimes teacher did consider about students level. Teacher might give same tasks or same questions which possible to answer correctly by the students who have good level. For example, student who has good level might answer all the questions correctly. Here a reason that caused it, maybe the student ever had learn at good school that makes the students smarter because of the learning program from that school or maybe the student was smart and cleaver because the student was diligent to study.
Second, the students have different personality and intelligences, but the teacher might not consider it in the way giving assessment. Student who has ashamed would not really good in answering questions directly.
Third, sometimes assessment that given by the teacher did not covered students’ intelligences. According to my experience when I senior high school, most of tasks as assessment only consist of verbal linguistic and logical mathematical. So how about the students who did enjoy at reading or counting, they might could not answer the questions.
All that cases usually happen in some school in Indonesia, I know it from School Experience Program. In school that I was in, the assessment is paper and pencil. The result of the test was not really good because more than 25% students got remedial. I think the mistake is come from the way teacher teach the students or the way the teacher assess the students. In SEP I was placed in micro teaching that usually used for remedial. So I could know the way the teacher assess the students. First thing teacher dictates the questions and the student wrote it down. Second the students answered the questions individually. While the students try to answer the teacher go outside the room, it makes the students did cheating. Even the students took a cheat, they still have difficulties in explain the answer. I know it because I heard “gimana jelasinnya”. So I just think now maybe the student not good at writing assessment or PPT.
Actually this topic told me that assessment is important especially for students. When I was in senior high school I often felt “I’m the worst”, it is because of my mark not good and in that time I taught that was not fair, I studied hard and did my best but the result hurt me.  It was oral exam and I am not really good at explain my answer orally. I have remedial for that exam, if I relate it to this topic the assessment should influence students’ motivation, not decrease students’ motivation. Discussing this topic in guest lecture's class was out of my expectation, it is better and I love Ibu Warih. Because before the class I think discussing assessment would be complicated. But Ibu Warih brought the discussion into a warm atmosphere it is help me to enjoyed the class.
If I am an educator I am going to be effective teacher that apply effective teaching using various method that grab students’ intelligences. Then teaching based on learning style and learning strategy, so do not worried about students who shy and problems towards students’ level.

  1. I think this is a critical reflection. But when I read your reflection, I still found some confusing sentences. So I could not understood clearly about your reflection. But, overall your reflection is good enough, perhaps for the next reflection you can use guiding questions from Ms. Ine. I think you have good analysis about the implementation of assessment, you have explored briefly about your perception of implementing assessment based on your experience in SEP, it is good. You must pay attention in using of grammar, so it will make your reflection perfect and don't forget to use guiding questions. OK. . .
    Keep writing. . . Abi. . spirit. . ^____^
