Third Reflection of PETA Subject “Model of Instruction”

That was the third meeting for PETA subject. In that meeting, we learned about model of instruction.  My lecturer started the lesson by giving a brief explanation of the topic. Then, she divided us became some groups. After that, she gave us hard copy of the material. She asked us to do group discussion. After we discussed the material, we had to share our understanding with others. From that activity, I got some new thinks that I have not got before.I understood that there are many instructions should be used by teacher to manage his classroom. In model of instruction, I knew that there were for types of it. Those were; direct instruction, group interaction, guide discovery and lecture discussion.
Actually, from four model of instruction that I learned in that day I have not understood enough. The most model that I understood is Group instruction. In Group instruction, there were five aspects that should include in. Those were Face to face instruction (in a group, students can do a sharing with others to discuss material or solve a problem), Group goals (each student in a group should give their effort and participation to reach the team’s goal or performance),Individual accountability (each student is measured by teacher by test or individual assignment. So, each student will not be dominant in a group), Collaborative skill (the student should be able to collaborate with others), Group processing (it is like a reflection for every member about what have he given from his group). I understood more aboutGroup instruction because when we did group discussion, I got the papers which including that material. So, I understood enough about what group discussion is. 
The other three models were not really clear for me. The time for sharing was not really enough for me. Luckily, my other members could share a brief of their understanding about their own material. In the end of the class my lecturer gave the explanation about the topic that day to conclude and cover all the material that we have learned. Although my lecture has covered and concluded the material on that day, it was not really clear for me. So, to solve that case I read the material again in my boarding house.
For me, the activity that day was not really interesting. That activity spent much time and I did not really get the point of the material. I think, it would be better if the lecturer do more lecturing session because the material was much and difficult enough for us to understand. It needed more explanation from the expert (lecturer) to do lecturing session. May be,it will give more benefits for us to get more understanding about the topic on that day.
From that session, I got new understanding about some model of instructions. As a teacher candidate, it will be very useful for me in the next. That lesson gave me new knowledge about how we chose the model of instruction for our students in the future. We have to understand about the topic that will we deliver. Before deliver it, we have to think the effective instruction for our students that appropriate with the topic. It will help us to deliver the material effectively and will help the students get the point of the material that we taught. As a teacher candidate, we have to think creatively to choose the appropriate instruction for our students.
