Third E-Reflection: Yunira Noor Rachmah_2011120054

Third E-Reflection: Yunira Noor Rachmah_2011120054
I have learned about models of instruction in November 2nd, 2012. This is a new thing that I learned about models of instruction. I heard it first in my classroom from other section. They had an assignment about it individually, but, we little bit talked and discussed it. When that day I just heard and did not more pay attention with the discussion, I just ignored it and focus with my assignment too. In the PETA classroom, we learned about it too and I have already made summary one of models of instruction. My summary is about direct instruction. Direct Instruction is a model that the teacher explains and illustrates the specific objectives consist of content and model skills for students, then students allows to practice it individually, after students finishing their practice, they will get corrective feedback from the teacher. When students practice it individually, the teacher provides scaffolding on their work. Scaffolding occurs also in Guided Discovery that the teacher does scaffolding to students’ concepts. Guided Discovery has the difference things with other models of instruction. There is the instruction has to explain what students have learned with another examples in the real-world. Another of models of instruction is Group Interaction which has aim to help students to get collaborative skills in social interaction. I just understood 3 models of instruction. For other models of instruction, I will learn more until I understand what the concept of each models of instruction is. This topic was interesting and meaningful for my future as a teacher candidate. As a teacher candidate, I can consider what I will use the instruction or methods for teaching and learning process. Maybe I can combine two methods in teaching and learning process as long as the concept of each method did not lose when I combine it. Besides that, I must also consider the characteristic of students in each classroom. I must adapt the methods with the characteristic of students, so students did not feel bored and can engage students while teaching and learning process. So, it had little bit fulfilled my expectation about the instruction which is used in the future as a teacher. In the other hand, I still confuse about other models of instruction and I will learn more until I understand, but, if I still confuse, I will ask my friends to explain it and I will read and find out other resources. I hope in the next meeting, I will understand the concept of next topic easily and I will do the best for my great future as a new generation of teacher candidate.

    Hi, Yunira..
I have read your reflection, and it was good. In your reflection, you said that you was still understand three models, right? So, I want to share a little to you the rest which you was still confuse.
The lecture discussion is a model that the teacher gives a brief presentation and followed by some questions. the teacher combine between a brief presentations with discussions that actively involve learners. students' prior knowledge was connected to the new information or the lesson. actually, I just have a little understanding, so I'm sorry if my sharing was unappropriated.
You can correct it, if I was wrong.
    Good Luck!
    :)

  3. Thank you Wira for your sharing about lecture-discussion. So, how is the differences between lecture-discussion and direct instruction? I think, the two models are teacher-centred learning, right? So, what is the point of direct instruction? Can you tell me your opinion about that? Thank you, Wira.
