4th E-Reflection toward Assessment

This week was totally different condition of learning PETA. I studied not only with my class mates of section H, but also we studied together with the entire English department students of 2011 cohort and 2012 cohort. It was interesting because I could study with my juniors and saw them delivering their opinion. We learned about the assessment guided by the guest lecturer, Bu Warih.
We were divided into many groups because the class was so big. However, the class could be controlled because Bu Warih delivered the material nicely and clearly. What I have understood about the topic of that meeting is about the difference between Summative Assessment and Formative Assessment. In my understanding, Summative assessment is the assessment that is held in the end of the lesson, in the end of the meeting, end the end of the semester, and also in the end of the year. This assessment is a formal assessment. The example of summative assessment is final exam test. In the other hand, Formative assessment happens during the learning process, and it can be continued. This assessment is non-formal assessment which the teacher can assess the students while the learning process, for example, teacher assess the students performance in the class.
Beside the thing that I have understood, there is still something that did not understand at that time. That was about the assessment in the international curriculum such as Cambridge and ISAC. However, we worked in group to analyze one of the assessment contained in ISAC and Cambridge, my group and I tried to analyze based on our understanding. Then, when I try to share our discussion result, our analysis was right. However the time was very limited, so, I could not see the whole analysis from every group. And also, when we did a gallery walk, we could not listen the explanation from every group, and ask what we did not understand. I hope next time if Bu Warih or another guest lecturer comes and teaches the big class like this, we will have a longer time, in order the learning process can have enough time.

  1. Dear Mamal,
mamal, you have to notice the typo, because so many typo that you wrote on this reflection.
you have to notice the grammar, by the way
I agree with you, that last session was very different with usual and we got a lot of things that we can implemented as a teacher later.
although, we didn't have enough time but the class is very nice and enjoy right?
I hope we can understood clearly about the topic.
