From the last meeting which is in the joint class, I have learned something new with Ibu Warih as guest lecturer. In this meeting I learnt about assessment that include the explanation what the assessment is, what the effective teacher is, kind of assessment, etc. From this meeting, I know that the aim of assessment is not only for the students, but also the teacher. There are so many definitions about assessment, but the general definition of assessment is collect information in order to improve the learning process. The reason of the importance of giving assessment is because with this way we can get the feedback of learning process.

After the discussion about what assessment is, we continued to discuss about effective assessment and kind of assessment. According to Ibu Warih explanation, effective assessment should be like photo album, not snapshot. It means that effective assessment is done not only in one time, but along the way using a variety of methods and format. The next topic that we were discussed was about summative and formative assessment. Actually, I did not understand for the first explanation about that kind of assessment, but with the helped from my friends I can understand little bit clearly. Both of that kind of assessment has aims to know what the students able to do.

In my opinion, this meeting was very interesting, because I can learn with my friends from other section and other force. Besides that, the presence of guest lecturer made new atmosphere in class. The guest lecturer was good in explaining the material, but the limited of time made me felt that she explained rashly, so that, the explanation felt not clear. In other side, I still felt enjoy in this meeting, because the new material that I got made me realize that assessment is important not only for students, but for the teacher also. This kind of thinking foundation is necessary for me as teacher candidate. Start from now, I have to make a plan and start to learn more active, because make an effective assessment is difficult if we do not learn before. The learning here is not only about theory, but also learn from educational life, learn through experience and etc.

In the next meeting I hope I can get more new knowledge that useful for me and my friends. I also hope that for the next time I can get opportunity to learn not only lecturing and discussing only about theory, but I hope I can get new experience where I learn through sharing about the contextual thing about the real of teaching and learning life.
