In
the last meeting of PETA I learnt about models of instruction. In that session
I learnt some model of instruction, such as guided discovery, group
interaction, lecturing and direct instruction. We do jig saw reading toward the
article about model of instruction. First time I read the text I did not really
understand the text, but when we had discussion in the group, it helped me to
understand the text.
Based
on what I got from my reading and discussion, guided discovery is student
centered learning where the students can explore the learning with guidance
from the teacher through group work. The second instruction is lecturing. Lecturing
is a teacher-centered learning where the teacher will explain the material and
give questions to the student. It provides comprehensive monitoring and
information processing. The next instruction is group interaction. In my
opinion group interactions is one of instruction that encourage the students to
learn and share knowledge through group interaction. This instruction adapts
sociocultural theory from Vygotsky. The last instruction is direct instruction.
In my opinion direct instruction is one of instruction that combined students’
practice and feedback to teach procedural and concept skills.
Actually,
at the first time I confused because my expectation in this meeting is doing a
microteaching that consist of 7 until 9 members in every group. However, I have
prepared all the things that my group need for microteaching but after we
discuss about the material I really interested. I like this meeting because I
can implement the models of instruction when I become a teacher someday.
We
will do a microteaching in next meeting with the new group. I hope in that
meeting I can do microteaching by implementing what I have got from this
meeting. I hope there is a meeting before mid-term to review all materials that
we have learn before. Thank you.

Emm.. I'm sorry before. May I add a little bit, especially in Lecture Discussion. In this models the teacher also construct students' prior knowledge with the new information or the lesson. So, the students also will think more about the information in the lesson that teacher asks. For the other you can explore alone by reading the materials.
