I have
learned about four models of instructions. All of those models were new for me,
because I have never learned or read about those models of instructions. Maybe
I had ever known about one or two of those instructions, but I had not known
the name of the instructions. I made some notes from what happened in the third
meeting, such how the lecturer opened the lesson, then what method that the
lecturer used. So, I had just not only learned about the effective teacher, but
also I could learn from how the lecturer taught me in the class.
Four models
of instructions were Direct instruction, Group Instruction, Guided Discovery,
and Lecture Discussion. The lecturer held the lesson in the class using jigsaw
reading method. I got copies of Group Instruction, and I felt that it was
interesting when I taught using Group Instruction. I learned from the
information in the copies, and I also learned from master group of Group
Instruction. From what I learned, the aims of using Group Instruction in the
lesson was to teach students work in group. It also could train the students
soft skill such arguing idea, asking a question politely, agreeing the
opinion, and so on.
Besides
group instruction, I also understood clearly about direct instruction. Based on
what I have learned, direct instruction was instruction that used by most of
teacher. I could classify this instruction in teacher centered learning,
because the role if teacher was very big. Most of activities that included in
this instruction was explaining and modelling. The most important thing was the
explanation of the teacher. Direct instruction could cover students's style in
learning, it was auditory. The clearance of the teacher explanation and voice
were very important, if those two things were not clear, students will feel not
interested in joining the lesson.
I just know
a little bit about the two other instructions left, they were lecture discussion and guided discovery. What
I know from the explanation from my friends about lecture discussion was
students could discuss with lecturer in the lesson. Then student could feel
enjoy in the lesson, because students could share and discuss their
understanding with their peers and lecturer. It also could provide a meaningful
verbal learning. Based on Ausubel, meaningful verbal learning is the
acquisition of ideas that are linked to the other ideas. Form that explanation,
I knew that lecture discussion could cover students' verbal intelligence. That
was all from lecture discussion that I knew.
Lecture
discussion was better than guided discovery, because I knew it more than guided
discovery. I really didn't understand about guided discovery. I needed study
more, ask more, and read more about these four instructions, especially guided
discovery and lecture discussion.
Third lesson
was interesting. I learned not only from the lecture, but I also learned from
my friends' point of view about these instructions. That kind of learning
activity could train my verbal ability and I liked that, because I realized
that my verbal ability was low and I need to train it.
As a teacher
candidate, I thought that I have to learn about these instructions. I will face
my students with different background and capability. I have to think about
what method and instructions that i will apply in my class later. That is what
I got from third meeting.
I had expected
that the third meeting will be walked more interesting that the meeting before,
and also I could learn new things about effective teacher.
I expected
that I could learn about how to teach with different instructions in the one
lesson next meeting. When we taught in a class, we will face different
students, and maybe different condition of the class. So, I think that I am as
a teacher candidate need to know how to teach with different method and
instructions in a lesson.
That was a good reflection Mas Majid. This reflection is better than your previous reflection, I see that you make this reflection base on the guideline. for me, it is a good improvement.
BalasHapusIn the third meeting I also got group discussion. what I understand more is only about group discussion itself. the three others i really did not understand yet. but, after i read and ask to some friends i get the point of that material...
Muhammad Ainul Muiz
Thank you, Muiz.
HapusI learned from the previous reflections. What about you? maybe I should visit to your reflections...
if you understand clearly about group discussion, so do I. We have to read and ask more if we want to understand more about those four instruction models.
