Second Reflection : Ambar Nurul Ansari 2011120015

Actually, after attending the second meeting of PETA course, I learned a new thing. For the first activity, my friends and I watched a video about thematic learning. On the video, I watched how a teacher taught by thematic learning process. In this system, students could get some knowledges from some subjects by one topic. Then, my friends and I were divided into some groups. I had to discuss what I had watched on the video with friends in one group. My friends and I had to discuss about the effective and non-effective teaching also what the different things we would do.

From this section, I realized that in thematic learning, the teacher should have a good preparation. The teacher also has to prepare the real example of the topic. Besides that, I know that to be a teacher has to have a good planning behind. It means that the teacher should be creative. It can be by collaborating one thing to another thing.

I know that there are several elements that must be included when the teacher is planning for instruction. Those elements are the learning content, the activity, and the assessment. It can be avoid the teacher from some mistakes. I got them from the discussion about some cases in Teaching Learning Activity. As a teacher someday, I will prepare and pay attention to my lesson plan to avoid some critical cases in Teaching Learning Activity. Of course, it is hard to make it real. But then, I will try to be.

There are three steps when the teachers want to plan for instructions according to Understanding by Design framework. The first step is identifying the objectives of the learning process. In this point, the teachers have to determine what they want to see as the output from this topic. The second one, the teachers have to determine the standard towards the topic. The last one is planning the learning activities. In my opinion, they relate each others.

In this section, I want to learn more how to be an effective teacher. This course really helps me to do the observation during SEP. I do hope, on the next meeting, I will get more new knowledges how to be an effective teacher.
