This is my first day to study this course, PETA. I have lot new things in the first meeting, now I already known what PETA course is. At the first time I was embittered about the content of this course because if the course is about how teachers teach and assess effectively, there are other courses that explain about that too such as LTM, TLL and UET. Then, what is the benefit of this course? But, I was wrong. Although PETA and other courses are related each other, but they are completely different. In PETA I will study deeper about the effectiveness of learning, teaching until assessing.

In the first meeting, I did not get many materials because as usual, in the first meeting only for introduction of other, introduction about the course and about the assessment that will be given in this course during one semester. The first impression in this course was really amazing, in the first meeting my lecturer invited me to remind about my teachers or lecturers in my pervious grade, about how my teachers in the past taught me with their way and their method, whether that was inspiring me or opposite. From that discuss I could think and understand the effectiveness teaching from my teacher in teaching and learning to give big influence toward the students, it could be influence for the achievement and or for the thinking of students to their teacher.

Besides that, discussion could be motivation for me as an educator candidate to be an inspiring and motivating teacher for my students. When I imagined about the teacher that I dislike, so I will promise that I would not be the teacher like him or her, I do not want to make my students think that I am a bad teacher in teaching like what I thought about my not inspiring teacher. For the opposite, when I imagine about my inspiring teacher, I hope that this course can help me to be an inspiring teacher too, many students love her, not only because of her appearance and her brain but because of her ability to be a good model and always teach by heart. After that I felt that PETA course is really useful and has so many benefits for me as an educator candidate.

For the next time I hope that through this course I can understand more how to be effective teacher and also effective teaching. At the beginning, I thought that the good attitude of the teacher is the most important thing even the only important thing in teaching. However after the first meeting in this course, especially after the lecturer ask my friends and I to work in group and think about what and how is an effective teacher and effective teaching, after that I know more that there are many aspects that have to require to be an effective teacher and do effective teaching, such as appearance, management time, attitude, objectivities, etc. Moreover I’m not only sharing with my friends in my group but also with all my friends in my class by gallery work so I know all the opinions from my friends about the topic. However, because of the limited time I just understand what my friends opinion about effective teacher and effective teaching through their hand out in gallery work without any explanation or presentation from them. I wonder that I was on misunderstanding because of that. My hoping for the next session, I can really study well about this course and for the managing time will running better.
