Annoy's e-reflection of PETA #2

Second meeting on PETA, I have learnt Thematic Learning. What I have got from Thematic Learning is combination learning. It is like strategy in learning that combines all subjects. It means that no separate subject in the classroom. Mathematics, Bahasa, Biology, Socials, and so on, they are united. Based on video that I have watched, I think Thematic Learning is suitable for the first level on Primary School.

I like work in group. It makes me easy to understand the materials by sharing knowledge each other. In group, I discussed with others whether Thematic Learning effective or not. Based on the discussion, I understand that Thematic Learning is good innovation in education. In contrast, the goal is irrelevant with the topic and lack of students’ skill exploration because students are passive.

Toward the end of the course, I do not understand yet with Bu Ine’s explanation on power point. I think because of the time limit. Yet it does not matter, I have friends who can help me to understand.

Talking about friend, there was good point from Umamah Umais. She shared her knowledge about Thematic Learning. She told that her brother was taught by Thematic Learning in his primary school. I wonder whether my sister use it or not.

So far is so good for this meeting. My group made some suggestion based on the video. For instance; Appropriate objective, estafet story telling, participant’s chance, and so on. My expectation for the next session is more understand about what effective teaching is. Furthermore, next week which is SEP week, I will be able to handle the class, good as a teacher assistant, and apply what I have learnt from the effective teaching well.
