Mu'azzatul Faridah-2nd Reflection of PETA

The second meeting in this course, my friends and I learned about Thematic learning. Our class begin by watching video about teaching and learning process in the class by using Thematic Learning. Based on what I got from the video and discussion in the class, Thematic learning is learning by combining some courses or subjects in a meeting. In the video the teacher teach some subjects, that are Mathematics, Bahasa, IPS and IPA in one meeting.It was really interesting because I can observe directly through video about the way of teaching in Thematic learning, then I discussed with my friends whether it was effective teaching or not.

After watching the video, my friends and I do a discussion about the way to teach of the teacher. For me, in the beginning of the video I was so interesting because the teacher already used effective method to teach; made a group of their students, do variation way in learning, learning outdoor, etc. However, I got some new things in this meeting, being an effective teacher and use effective teaching is not only about the way or the method that we use to teach our students. The way to give attention to our students also really important. So, as a teacher candidate we have to care with our students, do not ignore them when they asking or do something, use in appropriate way when we do different and incredible method; for example grouping, our movement in the class (not always in front of the students or behind them) and also we have to make sure that all of our students can master the material after studying with us. Those are what I got based on the video.

I think being a teacher is not easy and really challenging. Even when I think that the example teaching from the video is effective because she use some effective way to teach, but after discussing with my friends there are lot of weakness of her teaching and that was changing ineffective teaching. actually, I’m still confused when there is a case of ineffective teaching and we have to solve and discuss the best way to teach. I think I have to practice more, read a lot and do a discussion with my friends to increase my understanding about effective teaching. I also want to make SEP as a good opportunity to add my knowledge and practice to be an effective teacher.

I hope that I can get new knowledge from SEP as a supplies in the next meeting about another principles of effectiveness teaching and assessment.
